So many times we overlook this very somber Holiday. As family and friends gather, our hope is that everyone remembers all the men and women who have lost their lives, and, for all those continuing to serve here and abroad to preserve our freedom. It is a time for reflection and love for our country and pray that our country will have the guidance to protect us all of us on this Memorial Day, 2017. As a Soldier, Man, Father, Grandfather and Husband, Jerry is in our hearts and minds each and every day and his memory will never be forgotten. Love You So Much!

I was shocked to find out this week that Gerry had passed away 4 years ago. We both went to Woodruff high school but he was 2 years ahead of me. I actually met Gerry in Viet Nam. It was my first day there, his last. We were receiving incoming mortar rounds and we both ran for the nearest bunker, thinking it was our last day alive. Inside the bunker we struck up a conversation and that is how I came to know Gerry. I would see him later at Caterpillar on the Bldg SS paint line. I had plans on looking him up in 2017 when I come back to Peoria to visit family and friends. My deepest condolences to Gerry's family and friends. I'm also wondering if Vickie had a brother named Steve.
